Invitation
On behalf of the Program Committee (PC) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the APSG 2001 we hereby extend our cordial invitation to participate in the APSG 2001 organized by the APSG Management Board and the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) between 14-19May 2001 in Shanghai, P.R.China. 
Topics

1. Crustal deformation in the Asia-Pacific region, especially, in the Western Pacific Volcanic-seismic Belt, the Tibetan Plateau and the Central Asia;

2. Sea-level Changes in the Asia-Pacific region

3. Atmosphere and GPS meteorology

4. Gravity and Geomagnetism

5. SAR, InSAR, Lidar and the forthcoming techniques for the geodynamics.

Venue

The APSG meeting will be held in the Hua Xia Hotel (Four Stars) which is located in the south-west of Shanghai, nearby the Cao Bao Road Stop of the Metro Line No. 1 (5 minutes walk) and about 3.5km far way from Xu Jia Hui, one of  commercial centers of  Shanghai. The information of the address and the traffic of the Hua Xia Hotel is as follows:

How to get to the Hua Xia Hotel?

1. From Pudong International Airport

    (1) Airport bus: To take Airport Bus  No.3  to Xu Jia Hui (20 yuan), then take taxi to the hotel (about 15 yuan)  (total 35 yuan); or take Metro Line No.1 from Xu Jia Hui Station to Cao Bao Road Station (2 yuan). (total 22 yuan)

    (2) Taxi: To take taxi from Airport directly to the hotel. (about 150 yuan) 

2. From Hongqiao International Airport

    To take taxi from Airport directly to the hotel. (about 30-40 yuan)

3. From Shanghai Railway Station

   (1) Metro: To take Metro Line No.1 to Cao Bao Road Station. (3 yuan)

   (2) Taxi: To take taxi directly to the hotel (about 30 yuan)

The Map 2 shows the locations of the hotel, the Pudong and Hongqiao International Airports and the Headquarters of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory in Shanghai and the Map 3 shows the metro lines in Shanghai.

How from the hotel to get to the places which you might be interested in?

1. To the Nanjing Road, the famous commercial center of Shanghai

   To take Metro Line No.1 to the People's Square Station.

2. To the Bund

   To take the Metro Line No.1 to the People Square Stop, then change to Metro Line No.2 to Henan Road Station.

3. To the Xu Jia Hui, a new commercial center of Shanghai

   To take the Metro Line No.1 to the Xu Jia Hui Station.

Acceptance of papers and the presentation
The papers which have been accepted and will be included in the agenda of the APSG meeting are listed in the List of Papers. The LOC of the APSG 2001 will send a notification to the corresponding author on the acceptance of the paper by email.  The final scientific schedule will be available later. Late papers are still welcome. But, they will be as stand-by. 

The overhead project, PC project and slide project are available in the meeting room. You can use any one as you like. If you would like to use the PC project and have no your own PC, please give the files of your presentation with floppies to the staff of the LOC while you do the registration. The staff of the LOC will input the files to a common use PC for your presentation before the Session.

The posters will be exhibited on the poster boards. 

The official language of the Meeting is English. No simultaneous translation will be available.

Publication

Proceedings of selected and reviewed papers will be published. The decision of the selection of the papers will be made by the Program Committee of the APSG 2001 after the meeting. A notification of the selected paper will be sent to the corresponding author by email in the middle of June, 2001. Meantime, the type instructions for the papers to be published will be available on the APSG web page. The Proceedings will be mailed to all participants.

Also, you can download all papers which will be included in the Proceedings from the APSG web site.

Registration
Participants should register on the registration desk in the Hua Xia Hotel from 9:00 to 18:00 on May 14 and from 8:30 to 18:00 on May 15. If you arrive in Shanghai later than that time, please contact the staff of the LOC to do the registration
Registration fee RMB 600 yuan (about USD 73)
Student fee RMB 300 yuan (about USD 37)
Companion fee RMB 300 yuan (about USD 37)

The registration fee will be paid by RMB cash while you do the registration at the meeting. If you have obtained the financial support for your local expenses from the meeting, you will not need to pay the registration fee. The registration fee includes:

  • Admission to the scientific program

  • Book of Abstracts
  • Proceedings
  • Refreshments during the coffee breaks
  • Welcoming Reception and banquet
  • Excursions

The student and companion fees do not include the Proceedings. 

Financial Support
The LOC of the APSG 2001 will pay the hotel and registration fees for the participants who have been received  a notification on the financial support from the APSG Central Bureau by email. Also, they will obtain some Chinese cash from the LOC for their meals during the meeting after they do the registration.

The participants who have been obtained the financial support from the LOC of the APSG 2001 will arrange to stay in the Hua Xia Hotel. The Hotel has given the APSG meeting a special discount. The room rates are listed in the following table. The LOC suggests the foreign participants who have not obtained the financial support from the meeting also stay in this hotel. If you would like to stay in other hotel, please contact the LOC. The categories and room rates of some hotels are also listed the table. If you need the information of more hotels in Shanghai, we may provide it to you in accordance with your special requests.
