Invitation
On behalf of the Program Committee (PC) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the APSG 2001 we hereby extend our cordial invitation to participate in the APSG 2001 organized by the APSG Management Board and the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) between 14-19May 2001 in Shanghai, P.R.China. 
Topics

1. Crustal deformation in the Asia-Pacific region, especially, in the Western Pacific Volcanic-seismic 

    Belt, the Tibetan Plateau and the Central Asia;

2. Sea-level Changes in the Asia-Pacific region

3. Atmosphere and GPS meteorology

4. Gravity and Geomagnetism

5. SAR, InSAR, Lidar and the forthcoming techniques for the geodynamics.

The official language of the Meeting is English. No simultaneous translation will be available.

Poster Sessions
Each poster paper will be displayed for three full days (May 15-17). Authors will be asked to be available for a total of a half day to interact with the conference participants. 

 

Call for Abstracts

Authors are invited to fill in and return the Abstract Form which is included in the Pre-Registration Form together with the abstract. If you have two or more contributions and will send them to the web site of the APSG 2001, please fill in two or more Pre-registration forms.


Authors are requested to indicate their session of preference and should express a preference for either an oral presentation or a poster presentation. The final decision will be made by the convener in conjunction with the Program Committee.

 

In the abstract all the authors should be listed according to the typing instructions below. The abstract should be less than two papers. For papers with multiple authors, the name of the presenter of the paper must be underlined.

 

The Book of Abstracts will be available to all participants at the meeting.

 

Abstract Submission
Deadline for submission: 15 March, 2001.

The abstract should be sent to the APSG 2001 Secretariat (APSG Central Bureau). The abstract can be sent:

Notification of acceptance of the abstract will be sent to the authors by 31 March, 2001.

 

Typing Instructions
  • The abstract must be written in English.
  • The title of the abstract should be written in capital letters.
  • Begin a new line for each author: author’s full name (surname in capital letters) followed by affiliation, city, country, phone number and e-mail address.
  • For a paper with multiple authors, the name of the presenter must be underlined.
  • Begin text on a new line.
  • The length of the text should be less than two papers (A4).
  • Please indicate your preference for an oral or poster presentation.
  • Select a session in which you want your paper presented.
Publication
Proceedings of selected and reviewed papers will be published..
A CD containing all papers will be issued and mailed to all conference participants. 
Registration
Participants are advised to register by using the Pre-Registration Form since 1st February, 2001. The final deadline for pre-registration will be 15 March, 2001.
Registration Fee RMB 600 (about USD 73)
Student fee RMB 300 (about USD 37)
The registration fee will be paid on 14 May, 2001 at the meeting which includes:
  • Admission to the scientific program
  • Book of Abstracts
  • Proceedings and CD
  • Refreshments during the coffee breaks
  • Welcoming Reception
  • Excursions

The student fee does not include the Proceedings and CD. 

Financial Support
Limited support for the local expenses will be available to participants from developing countries. Support will only be given to authors who will definitely attend the meeting and present a paper (either oral or poster). Authors wishing to apply for such support are requested to indicate this on the Pre-Registration Form. 
Second Announcement and Preliminary Program
The Second Announcement and the Preliminary Program will be available on the web site by 31 March, 2001, including further information on registration, hotels, travel information and etc..

Venue

The Astronomy Building at Shanghai Astronomical Observatory which is located in the south-western part of Shanghai, nearby the new commerce center named Xu Jia Hui and about 8km far away from the center of the downtown of Shanghai.

Hotel categories and prices of single or double room per night are:
 
Five star hotel: RMB 800 – 1000 (about USD 95-120)
Four star hotel: RMB 600 – 800 (about USD 70-95)
Three star hotel: RMB 400 – 500 (about USD 50-60)
Shanghai Convention Center, CAS (three star hotel) RMB 240 - 320 (about USD 30-40)

Excursions
One day excursions will be offered for the participants to explore Shanghai and the countryside.
